After 15 years living in Portland, Oregon, I returned to my hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2010. I wasn't exactly sure what my plan was when I got here but I knew I needed a studio. I leased a storefront, mostly to act as my studio in the back and have a small retail store in the front. For two years I grew my little storefront, hosted gallery nights, changed window displays, ordered merchandise for the store, created custom window treatments and lampshades, serviced my wholesale greeting card business, created a new line of greeting cards, created a line of ceramics and pillows, taught a greeting card workshop at the MIlwaukee Institute of Art and Design, maintained social media, and become a part of the very special Bay View community. It was a busy and rewarding time. After two years I decided not to renew my lease and to move my studio into my new home to focus on my long-time greeting card business, Urban Bird Designs.
This web site serves as a portfolio of my batik projects and lampshades as well as an archive of the shop. Please visit my Urban Bird web site to see current work and services. Thank you to everyone that help make eco batik a meaningful part of my life.
